I Can Die Now
For I have seen Martha Argerich perform live!

With her former husband, Charles Dutoit, helming the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, the 66 year old Argentinian pianist, transported the Harris Theater to … to … well, I just have no words that can capture her rendition of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3. Let's just call it …
Transparent Thunder
Ms. Argerich followed up with two encores, Scarlatti's Sonata in D minor and Chopin's Mazurka in F minor, Opus 62, No. 2. Finally, she had to lead the concertmaster off the stage to signal the intermission.
Following the intermission, we were treated to a rousing, exuberant rendition of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. Not perfect by any means (after all this is a training orchestra), but OH so enjoyable. Dutoit owns this piece and it was great to experience his stamp on these young musicians. And then two more encores: Bizet's Farandole from L'Arlésienne Suite and Chabrier's España (after Symphonie Fantastique).
So the gamble paid off! Words fail! For a better review, read Deceptively Simple.

please don't die just yet!
i would miss you!
